English Premier League 2021/22: Chelsea vs Arsenal Report

English Premier League 2021/22: Chelsea vs Arsenal Report

As scheduled, Arsenal and Chelsea met in a pre-season friendly match last August 1 (Sunday). This game, alongside two more matches, is a part of The Mind Series Campaign to raise funds and promote mental health support in the UK.

Chelsea had a slow start this pre-season yet they gained their momentum and took their fourth win against Arsenal. It was an exciting match with more than 20,000 spectators inside Arsenal’s homecourt stadium on March 7, 2020. Yet ten minutes in, Timo Werner set up midfielder Kai Havertz who tucked Chelsea’s opening goal inside Arsenal’s post.

Though the crowd was in for a loud cheer as Granit Xhaka made his first pre-season appearance by blocking a goal from Hakim Ziyech. Xhaka also granted Arsenal their first break as he planted a downward header that successfully went in. But the party was short-lived as Tammy Abraham pounced straight a few minutes later and slotted Chelsea’s second goal past Bernd Leno. The game ended at Arsenal 1 - 2 Chelsea.

What’s Next: Last two weeks before EPL 2021/22

Football betting is a growing industry with the largest cut from last year’s £14 billion wagers in the UK. With just a few days left in the pre-season, experienced punters are busy studying the odds and each squad’s performance status.

This is a sign for casual football punters to look at more profitable betting options like European bookies and Asian sportsbooks.  Before placing bets, aspiring professional bettors should be familiar first with these terms:

  • Sports betting. It is placing bets on bookmakers or aggregator sites during any sporting event.

  • Bookmakers. Also known as sportsbooks, these platforms are the ones punters are betting against instead of other people.

  • Sportsbooks aggregator sites. These collect odds from different bookmakers and show them on a single site. Punters who want to see competitive odds and bet online simultaneously use these betting services.

  • Odds. Provided by bookmakers, these numbers represent how much the punter will gain if his bets are correct.

Second tip: Maximize Asian bookies for football

What is Asian list betting? Also known as Asian handicap, this is the most popular betting style in Asia. It removes the chance of a draw leaving only two outcomes. This betting puts a handicap on the favourite team (minus symbol) and places an advantage on the underdog (plus symbol).

Here’s how it works and why the Asian handicap market is a perfect betting market for new punters to start on. Let’s use the opening game for the Premier League between (+)Brentford vs (-)Arsenal for example.

0.75 Handicap

If bets are on Arsenal, the results will be:

  • Wins bets if Arsenal wins by 2+ goals

  • Loses half of the stake if Arsenal wins by only 1 goal

  • Loses bets if the game is a draw

  • Loses bets if Brentford wins

If bets are on Brentford, the results will be:

  • Wins bets if Brentford wins

  • Wins bets if the game is a draw

  • Wins half of the stake if Brentford lose by 1 goal

  • Loses bets if Arsenal wins

As seen in the examples, losing the game doesn’t always mean losing the bets. Asian handicap betting and Asian bookmakers offer more chances to win, perfect for punters who just started their career. See the table below to learn how the remaining handicap decimal odds work.
